Japanese made double bass for $440?

I have a question to all globally. As you may not be aware I live in japan now. I am studying in Osaka. In Australia I learned to play the electric bass but as time went on I fell in love with double bases. I had one but sold it.

Whilst I was window shopping in Osaka I cam across a shop and had a chance to play a solid wood carved Japanese made double bass. I’m really thinking of buying it. I was playing it in the shop. It’s great. Solid wood not ply. I think some rockabilly owned it. I see marks where stickers were put.

My question is should I buy it?
